Langhorne, PA, February 17, 2005: Optellios, Inc., today announced an addition of two new products to its Fiber Patrol line of high-end fiberoptic intrusion detection systems. With this product release, Optellios continues to capitalize on its array of breakthrough patent-pending distributed fiber sensor technologies.
The new additions include FiberPatrol FP1200, a zone-based intrusion detection system for perimeter security, and Fiber Patrol FP5000, a system specially designed for real-time monitoring of fiberoptic communication networks against physical tampering and data tapping attempts.
FiberPatrol FP1200 provides unsurpassed deployment flexibility for those sites where protection requirements are mixed. Each zone can be individually configured as a point, line, or area sensor, or an insensitive link, tying other zones to the system. The sensing cable in each detection zone can be buried underground or mounted on a supporting structure such as a fence.
Unlike any other zone-based intrusion detection system, FP1200 requires absolutely no electrical power in the field, and can stretch for up to 100km of combined sensor length.
Fiber Patrol FP5000 requires just one single- or multimode fiber to protect the entire cable bundle that may include copper as well as fiberoptic cables. It can be deployed on any existing fiber link and may even share a data-carrying fiber. FP5000 will ignore small ambient vibrations while promptly detecting any significant fiber movement. FP5000 will provide an early warning by generating an alarm well before there is any signal loss detectable by an optical power monitor or by an OTDR.
Both new systems incorporate a stand-alone head-end unit with graphical user interface, advanced filtering algorithms, complete alarm management, and multiple I/O options for easy integration. Both products are available for immediate delivery.
